2012 Franklin RTC Scholarship Winners

    The Franklin Republican Town Committee was pleased to announce the winners of the FRTC 2012 Scholarship  Program.  The applicants wrote essays on the following topic: “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.” – Ronald Reagan. 

    We received many passionate and insightful essays but the two winning pieces belonged to Stefan Herlitz and Rhett Alexander Davis.  The two $500 scholarship awards will be available to Stefan and Rhett for the second semester, 2012-2013 with proof of continuing education.

    Rhett Alexander Davis’ high school activities include football, basketball and track.  He has represented FHS at the 2011 Hockomock Leadership Conference and has also volunteered his time at the North Attleboro Soup kitchen and as a student athlete tutor.  Rhett continues his dedication to community service by participating in the Shriners Football Classic Fundraiser and the FHS Trivia Bee Fundraiser.  Rhett plans to continue his education at Virginia Tech where he will pursue a mechanical engineering degree. 

Stefan Herlitz’s high school activities include Math Club, Pep Band, Science and Engineering Club, Cross Country, Fencing and Students United Club. Stefan also understands the importance of giving back and donates his time to the Franklin Recreation Department, Junior Camp Counselor, and tutoring at the Middle School Latin Program. Stefan will be pursuing a political science degree at UMASS Amherst.
