Meeting Minutes
Thursday, January 6, 2011
1. Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 7:30
p.m. by Chair John Jewell who led the committee and guests in the Pledge of
Allegiance.
2.
Introductions: The Chair initiated
self introductions of members and guests.
3. Attendance: Fifteen people were in attendance:
4. Minutes: Minutes from the meeting November 2010
meeting were e-mailed right after the meeting and are posted on the website.
5. Treasurers Report: No report. Ray Fioravanti was not
present.
6. State Committee Reports: None. Linda is at
the State Committee meeting where they are electing the Chair.
7. Town Council: Glenn Jones gave an update on issues
before the council. Members asked him many questions.
8. July 4th : The chair said we need Volunteers
for our booth to set-up, stock, staff over the course of the event and take
down.
· The Touhey’s are
co-chairing overall committee and anyone able to volunteer for helping with
that committee are certainly welcome.
9. Fall 2011 Local Election: The chair asked the
members to respond to the question: “What are the qualities we want in candidates
for Town Boards and Committees? Some of the responses were:
· A solid set of
republican core values and beliefs; living within our means, provide efficient
and cost effective basic services, etc.
· An active listener
· Working knowledge
of the processes of local government
· Willing and able to
actively hold accountable those individuals responsible for expending town
funds
· Has “common sense”
and uses it to make decisions
· Actively
communicates issues they are dealing with directly to the residents
· Is always and
easily accessible to all residents
· Actively seeks
opinions on issues directly from residents
· Is currently an
active volunteer in town activities; scouts, sports, schools, churches,
fraternal organizations, etc. and therefore have name recognition
The chair and secretary will review
residents to approach who may be viable candidates or who may know someone who
would be a good candidate and those who may be willing to contribute to FRTC
activities.
10. Old Business: (Items carried forward, no discussion this
meeting)
· Election Results-
Discussion of what went right and what went wrong. Ideas for improvement here
and around the state.
· Letter to all Franklin republicans
about stats and energizing them towards Glenn, Susan, Matt, Ed Anguish.
· Oktoberfest Event
· Charter Change for
Franklin- Glenn Jones no show. Allan to e-mail and post mark-up of charter
changes.

12. Next Meeting: The next full committee meeting will be at
7:30 pm, Thursday, February 3, 2011 in the training room at the Franklin Municipal Building.
13. Adjournment: Meeting was adjourned at 9:00 pm.
